Who we are
Traced (“Traced”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates usetraced.xyz and provides a competitive intelligence service that monitors publicly available competitor pages and sends you reports about what changed.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, dashboard, reports, emails, and related services (together, the “Service”).
We are the controller of the personal information we collect through the Service, except where a third party acts as an independent controller — for example, Polar for payment processing. If you have questions or want to exercise a privacy right, contact us at hello@usetraced.xyz.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide, information created when you use the Service, and information from third parties.
Account information
You sign in with Google through our authentication provider, Supabase. When you do, we receive your name, email address, profile image, and a Google account identifier. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Product and workspace information
When you set up monitoring, you provide your product’s name, website URL, and description, along with the names and URLs of the competitors you want to track. We store this information, your settings, monitoring history, and the reports we generate.
Billing information
Paid subscriptions are handled by Polar, which acts as our payment processor and merchant of record. We receive information such as your plan, billing interval, subscription status, customer and subscription identifiers, and transaction history. Polar collects and processes your payment details; we do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
Usage and technical information
When you use the Service, we automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, actions taken, and timestamps. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
Communications
If you contact us, we collect your email address, the contents of your message, and any information you choose to include.
Public website content
To produce reports, we read publicly accessible pages of the websites you ask us to monitor, as well as your own product website. This content may incidentally include personal information, such as a founder’s name or a team member’s photo on a public page. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the Service.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Service, including creating your account, discovering and monitoring public pages, detecting changes, and generating weekly reports.
- Deliver reports and service emails through our email provider.
- Process subscriptions, payments, and billing through Polar.
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug problems, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
- Understand usage and improve the Service, including through aggregated analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and third parties.
- Send product updates or marketing communications where permitted by law. You can opt out at any time.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Our reports are generated with AI assistance, but you decide what to do with them.
Legal bases for processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract. We process information to provide the Service you have requested, including account, monitoring, and billing operations.
- Legitimate interests. We process information to secure and improve the Service, communicate with you, prevent fraud and abuse, and operate our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent. We rely on consent for optional marketing communications and any non-essential cookies or similar technologies where consent is required.
- Legal obligation. We process information to comply with tax, accounting, and other legal requirements.
You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before the withdrawal, or processing based on another legal basis.
International data transfers
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. You can contact us for more information about the safeguards we use.
How long we keep information
We keep account and workspace information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from your account settings.
If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal, tax, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes, or where it remains in backups for a limited period. Billing records may be retained for as long as required by law. Aggregated analytics and operational logs are kept for shorter periods.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. Authentication is handled by Supabase and Google; we never receive your Google password.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise a right, email hello@usetraced.xyz. We will respond within the time required by law and may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. You can also delete your account from your account settings.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
You have the rights described above under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the UK GDPR, and equivalent local laws. If you believe we have not handled your information lawfully, you can contact us first or lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to correct it, and to delete it. You also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Other regions
You may have similar rights under the laws of your country or state. Contact us and we will help you exercise them.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@usetraced.xyz and we will delete it.
Third-party websites and services
The Service reads and links to third-party websites. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. This Privacy Policy does not apply to them; please review their policies separately.
If you sign in with Google, Google’s privacy policy applies to your Google account. Payments are handled by Polar, and its privacy policy applies to the payment information it collects.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice, such as by email or in-app notice, before it takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
Contact us

We take privacy concerns seriously and will try to resolve them promptly. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
